Hi everyone I need a little help here, I am very affected to refresh rate flicker on monitors. I was wondering if refresh rates on LCD monitors can have a flicker like they do on CRT's. I only ask because I just bought the Dell 24 2407 and I seem to notice a flicker and a headache associated with it when I sit and look at it for 15+ minutes. I never noticed anything like this on my old 17" LCD Apple Studio Display, AM I crazy or is this a problem.

Also will the 23" Cinema suit my needs better?

Thanks.:)

As far as I understand it the whole display does not flicker in the same way as CRTs as the backlight is always on, and the pixels only changed when refreshed to a different colour. Have you tried drastically lowering brightness/increasing ambient light?

Yeah 20/20. I have always been able to pick up monitor flicker very easily. Might have to go down to the Apple store and stare at the 23" for a while. Thanks for your help.

I have the same Dell monitor and have only experienced a tear slightly above the mid-section that goes horizontal to the monitor, but this only occurs when I am viewing a video at fullscreen. Other than that, I have had no other issues with my monitor.

Some people have said it can be related to the ambient lighting in the room - particularly if lit with fluorescent tubes which do flicker. On my HiRes powerbook, I sometimes discern wide (1cm) banding in certain shades etc. And sometimes flicker in my peripheral vision on a 17" iMac G4.

I have real soft ambient light in the room, was great with 17" maybe the 24 is just too big for me?

Does anyone know if contrast ratio might have something to do with it?
