Reformat drive to Guid partition scheme

I can't install Snow Leopard because my hard drive doesn't have a Guid partition scheme. how do i reformat my drive without losing all my info.

P.s. I'm backing up my hard drive now to and external drive with carbon copy cloner.

Why not just do a time machine backup and then do a fresh install of SL?

I like going to a external drive with CC and than reformat the drive to GUID than copy it back over. Not a big fan of Time machine. I want a exact copy of what I have coming back in.
