I have had it with these M**herf***ing iPods. Seriously.

Today I go to prepare an iPod mini for sale. A May, 2005, 6GB iPod mini.

It has songs on it, so I wipe them, it has a few other bits on it, so I decide to give it a reformat using the "restore" function in iPod updater (Mac version).

Now, lo and behold, it refuses to load songs. It mounts ok, shows up in iTunes, but refuses to load anything.

What's the f***ing point with these things? They break after a year. This is the third one I've had that's done so.

Does anyone have any suggestions or troubleshoot ideas other than the normal reset, reformat etc etc?

Have you tried to use an older iPod updater? I've never gone through this, but I have several old updaters in my utilities folders, so if they don't overwrite one another, an older version may be more suited to the mini.

It's an idea, at least. Good luck.
