I have reformatted my Windows 7 PC.

I did not back up the iTunes backups.

I have Transferred Purchases, so my apps should now sync.

If I attempt to sync, though my apps should be fine (due to Transferring Puurchases), I presume my Contacts, Messaging etc. data will be lost as my PC no longer has this information on it?

Is this correct, or does that only apply to media and apps etc.?

I don't know about Windows 7 but I had a similar problem and I am using XP Pro but this may help.

In XP: Tell iTunes not to automatically sych the phone when connected and then in your mail contacts on the PC create at least one contact ( it can be anything as long as there is an entry). Connect the phone to iTunes and select 'Backup my phone' NOT sync. This will transfer everything on your phone into iTunes and your contacts into whatever email client is being used, after the backup check everything is transferred across by looking at the iTunes tabs then sync the phone.

That worked for me on XP Pro,

Thank you! I'll research a little more and if nothing better comes up, I'll be happy to give that a go :)
