Reformatting Hard drive...

I have 2 partitions on my MacbookPro hard drive. 1 is for Vista (what a waste of money) and the other is OSX. If I wanted to reformat and secure erase only 1 Partition, is that possible? Or does the secure erase completely empty the hard drive???



Also, is there a lot of wear and tear reformatting with the secure erase???
