refresh view in finder - how?

i've been converting video files and when they begin the
conversion the new file appears saying it's something like
8kb. when it's done it doesn't refresh to show the actual
converted size, which is much larger. the view menu has
no option to refresh or update the finder view. how do i
do this in osx?

Jump up to the parent folder and back again, or use a script like Refresh Finder. AFAIK there's nothing built in to Finder to let you refresh the folder manually

In Finder, you might try View > Show View Options > Calculate Sizes (check) > Use as defaults

thanks for both of these. i installed the finder-refresh thingy.
will use that if the preference setting doesn't keep the finder
automatically updated.
