I bought a MBP on Amazon with my original debit card but it was cancelled per my request due to another fraudulent charge on my account. However, Amazon refunded my MBP back to the original card yesterday. Will my account still receive the refund? The bank account that the cards (cancelled and current) are linked to isn't closed.

When I had money deposited into a closed account, the money didn't go through and Amazon notified me a couple days later telling me to update my billing information so they could deposit the money into my account.

This all depends on your bank call them and find out. Also call to let them know that this activity was approved by you. I'm sure they would have a system for working this out with people closing accounts and losing cards soon after an order.

On these types of transactions if the refund is approved and your account is still active they will likely just place the funds in your account. If they deny it you will have to make other arrangements with Amazon.

If the bank refuses the chargeback then Amazon will likely refund by check. This will take a few weeks. They may also not refund the full amount. Since the charge they took they likely had to give 1% to 1.5% of the sale to the card company.

At the worst you will have some hassles getting your money back. It's not just going to disappear.

When I reserved my iPhone 4 on release date last year, I cancelled the card I used for the reservation (not close the account) and the policy was that they would charge the card when it shipped. It shipped without hassle and my account was properly charged.

I wonder since my bank account isn't closed, the refund would go through smoothly? I'm going to call my bank and let them know of the situation.
