I currently have a dual G5 2.0 desktop which I'm quite happy with (I'm a recent switcher, I still have my windoze box for some web development needs). I really need a very portable mac. I've been using a pda to carry around my calendar and contacts but I'm thinking of selling it (my cell phone serves pretty well to keep my phone numbers). The apps I would need to use on the laptop are as follows.
Photoshop (light use, it's all for web graphics so I don't work with alot of hi rez stuff)
Dreamweaver 8
Flash 8 Professional
and of course the normal MS Office Apps, email and web browsing
Ocassionally I'd like to use cubase to record my band during rehearsal but this would only be 2-4 tracks and I would save any editing/overdubs for the power mac.
My current thinking is that waiting on an intel machine might not be that important, especially since most of my apps would be running under rosetta, and most future apps will still work on the power pc platform. I have been considering a refurb 1.5 ghz 12" powerbook however a new ibook is basically the same price (with educational discount, I work for a community college). It's going to be a 12" screen for sure, the portability would be nice.
I'm interested in any opinions/experience from those running similar apps on similar systems.
