Ok so I am looking at getting one of the new 13" units however there is roughly $200 difference between both model 2011 refurbished 13" units but is the i7 worth it? I don't feel like spending more than $1200 to go for the 15" model not worth the money to me.

if you spend tons of time doing processor-intensive work, then yes, the i7 would be worth it. otherwise in my opinion, no

Have you checked the prices on Amazon, keeping in mind that Amazon doesn't charge taxes, and both Amazon and Apple ship for free?

As to CPU, I have the i5 and find it more than satisfactory, but that's for my use.

The i5 should be plenty speed unless you are really big into graphics.

The i7 is more expensive as well because it has an increased hard drive capacity. This might be a benefit, but if you were planning to upgrade to an SSD, then you are paying more money for nothing.
(Assuming you are looking at this and that)

If you're into Video Editing, then your choice might be different:

Just go with the i5, it will do pretty much everything you throw at it. You can upgrade to the 500GB hard drive if you do need the extra storage.

Get the i5, upgrade ram to 8 gb's, and throw in a ssd the first chance you get. You will be set... This combo will be really fast. :D
