Hi guys, my laptop is dying soon and my programming needs require me to upgrade my laptop.

For the same price of a new 2015 RMBP 15" baseline model (2.2ghz, 256ssd and igpu), I am able to get a late 2013 refurb dgu (750m, 2.3ghz and 512 ssd).

Which one should I get? Considering that my needs require working with big data, database mining, programming, Adobe Lightroom, photoshop, illustrator and indesign.

What's stopping me from the purchase button of the late 2013 model are the future resale value, the slower ssd and force touch trackpad (I enjoyed using it in the apple store).

Ironically the 2013 and 2015 both use exactly the same CPU. The 2013 will be faster in every way. You just miss out on the new trackpad.

I think the OP was referring to the fact that the 2013 refurb model has a dedicated GPU where as the new 2015 model only has an integrated GPU.

Of those applications, none will benefit from the dGPU much. It's all CPU and opencl, I think.

Seems like its really better to get the late 2013 version. Was disappointed that the 15" wasn't updated with broadwell. blame intel..
