Should I get a refurb Aluminum Unibody Macbook for $899 or a refurb Macbook Pro for $999?

Here are the specs:

Refurbished MacBook 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Aluminum
13.3-inch 1280-by-800 pixel LED-backlit display
2GB memory
160GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Built-in iSight camera
Standard keyboard

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.26GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
13.3-inch LED-backlit glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
160GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
Illuminated keyboard

But here's my question, how do they have new release MBPs that are already in refurb? Are these some sort of factory defectives?

The customer either decided they didn't want it, DOA, or had a defect. Anyways, Apple does extensive testing to returned computers so they are like new.

What you are talking about that was released 4 days ago is the White Macbook. The models you are talking about in your first post were released months ago.

Oh good....thanks for clearing that up for me! Here's another question, since you are so well informed--if the macbook just got updated, is it likely that the MBP is going to see an update in the next few weeks as well?

No one knows.

Look, for $100 you get a faster processor, a significantly better display, a backlit keyboard, SD card slot, and 7 hour battery.

It shouldn't be a hard choice ;)

Right, except since its only 100$ cheaper than a new edition MBP, if they are going to update soon then its smarter to wait and spend another $100 for something two steps above the aluminum macbook.

The reason i asked the initial question is that my friend's husband is a mac genius, and he said that the aluminum macbook was the best deal on the refurb page. My impulse was to go with the pro for the battery and keyboard improvements, but i wanted to see if there was something else that was important that would make the small price difference less worth it.
