Really doesnt seem like that great of deal. For $1189 you can get a refurb 13" MBP or a brand new one with better GPU and battery for same price. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Refurbs will have better deals once the new systems trickle down to the refurb site. Right now they are not a particularly good value.

Cheers,

Hmm.

I don't know what to do!

New brand new 13inch macbook pro comes to 1164$

Refurbish 13inch mbp comes to $984 total.

Only save around $180.

Is that refurbish is just came off the new line and just placed in the refurb store?

$180 more for a brand new MBP though hmmm. With more HD space, Ram too.

Can you get a better discount off a refurb with education discount?

I just want it as a first mac, for literally basic things.

The refurb prices look good on first blush but once you factor in tax, I think one would be better off buying the newest low end 13" from Amazon. It's a $140 difference for me. The extra 2GB ram and better graphics card are worth $140 to me.

There are no discounts on refurbished items, even the Education Discount. What you see listed on the refurb site is the lowest possible price.
