Refurb iPhones?

1st Gen iPhone---->Never, buy one on eBay
3G iPhone---->Never, you can only buy it in the stores because you have to activate it.
The prices for the refurb iPhone were $350 compared to $400 (I think)
If they will never return then how come there is an iPhone section in the Refurbs? And how come this page exists? That's what I ordered in September.
When I went in my local AT&T store the other day to get on the waiting list they told me they had the 2G iPhone for sale too.

Yes, but is it still available for purchase on the Apple Store online? That's all I want to know. Has ANYBODY got a refurb iPhone from the Apple store in the last few weeks? Do they come back in stock?
Well, I called them, and they said that they currently have no estimate of when or if they will be getting them back in stock.
Yeah, my dad got me a refurb iphone, but that was way back in September. They might get them back, it's anyone's guess at this point.
I want a refurb because it's from Apple and I think it would be a better quality than just buying on eBay, and I want the first model since I can't get the 3G because I'm not on AT&T. I was planning on selling the iPod Touch I get for free today for $300, then buying the iPhone since the iPhone has a camera, speakers, the headphones with the music control, and it just looks nicer compared to the iPod. But I guess I will have to just buy one on eBay.
