Is there a big jump in performance? I am just a little worried about the intel graphics 3000 on the 2011.

Intel 3000 is not bad, 4000 is supposed to be twice as fast.

What are you going to do with your laptop?

If you get a 13" you already know that it doesn't have a discreet GPU.

Don't plan to do any gaming on either one.

I plan on watching HD content, internet, music, word processing, maybe play little app games from the mac app store.. I just want everything to run smooth. I may upgrade to an SSD later next year too.

What would the 4000 improve by 50%? The overall speed of the computer or just the 3d graphics?

You will definitely be fine with what you want to do with the Intel HD3000. I have a 2011MBP and the same GPU and I force the 3000 when I am on battery and it's fairly good with HD content, etc.

The 4000 is twice as fast as far as computational power goes, so it's faster in performance. Not to get too technical here, but all that info is available online.

I believe you can definitely play older games on the 3000 without much issues.

Here's a small test online. You can find more.

I would say, save the $200 and buy yourself an SSD and more ram.

P.S. Seems like your first link is out of stock :(
