Hi, I got my refurb macbook pro yesterday. Here are the specs:

MacBook Pro 15"
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 gigs of ram

Upon opening it and setting it up, I installed snow leopard. When I got all of my stuff transfered and set up virtualized windows, it was having trouble even opening menu bars! I rebooted and tried a PRAM reset, but it still is slower than I expected. I mean, my PowerBook G4 12" was faster! Any ideas on whats going on? If anyone thinks it's a dying hard drive, I checked that and the SMART status is verified.

2 gig of ram is a cripplingly small amount for VMWARE

you need at LEAST 4 just to run XP with a decent amount of ram.

In the mean time i'd shuffle the settings on your virtual machine to give xp just 512mb Ram...it'll speed it up a little bit.
