Just got a refurbished white Macbook from the Apple store -- C2D, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk, SuperDrive. Ordered on Wednesday, showed up today, and after reinstalling to eliminate printer drivers and save some space, was up and running in no time at all.

I'm coming from a PC background, and this thing is a ton of fun to use. Can't wait to get really proficient with it.

So anyways, I'm checking out the HD info and see the disk is actually 111GB. And my available space is just over 95GB now.

Did I luck out with my hard drive, or are they being very very generous when they claim "80GB" on the specs?

Sometimes with a refurb you'll "luck out" and they'll send you a unit with a bigger hard drive, more ram, etc., than the basic spec.
Looks like you did, getting a 120 gig hard drive instead of the 80.
Nice!

wow good for u...i just order a refurbed mac...but i doubt ill get nething extra...
btw...how was the condition of ur mac? and did u reformat it or just deleted the trial software/printer stuff etc??

I didn't even think to check RAM. Just did, 2GB. Woohoo!!!

The condition seems fantastic. Everything's nice and clean, and running well so far.

I did end up reformatting and reinstalling, it was real easy. Good luck with your order, hope they include some extras for you too.

Wow, you got really lucky! The only extra I got with my refurb mini was an extra screw floating around inside it. I checked all the fixit guides, and all screws seem to be accounted for, so I just tossed the extra in a toolbox.

how come u did a reformat? also...when u did ur format? was everything up and running? did u have to install extra things? drivers, updates etc?

I booted from the OS X DVD and just let it do its thing. Since I don't really know what I'm doing yet, to remove items it seemed easiest to just reinstall and not select them in the first place. :)

Once it was running I checked for updates and there was plenty to download.

nice...did u go to software update? to download all the latest updates...
and did u download 10.4.10...how is everything running?

sorry for all the questions...i just want to make sure everything with my refurb goes as well as urs

Yep, that's it exactly, and 10.4.10 came down. I'm sure yours will go smoothly, this was all real easy.

1. Buy refurbed MB.
2. Refurbed MB arrives with magically-enhanced specs.
3. Sell MB at appropriate price.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary.

Return it immediately and get your money back. This is clearly a manifestation of the Pentium Bug (TM). :)

Would you be willing to order a macpro quad for me? I figure if you order it they might send the octo.:)

Congrats on your order. Enjoy.

Heh, with this luck maybe I should've gotten an iPhone yesterday too; who knows, mightve ended up with a 16GB model :D

Congrats!!

I didn't luck out on the RAM but the MacBook Black refurb I bought when the new Pro came out also came with 160 Gb HD instead of 120 Gb ;) A nice surprise

No big deal for the RAM for I have an extra 1Gb stick anyway :D

meh... lucky...

i was hoping mine would come with 3GBs of RAM and a 250GB 5400RPM hard drive, but hey, you cant have it all, can you?
