has anyone seen a mb with 2 or 2.16 ghz c2d 2 gig ram or a mbp with 3 gig ram up for sale at the apple refurb site? are refurbs always base models?

They're usually the base models.

I don't expect to see the latest models there for at least a few weeks.

But they DO come up in the inventory? From your reply, I guess they do, only later? (i.e. after someone has actually returned the stuff after they did not like it or someone returned their custom-made unit due to defects.

Refurbished models usually show up in the middle of the week (usually Tuesday) and last a day or two. Be prepared to buy one as fast as the come into the store.

Occasionally models are listed as stock but come with hardware that is greater then stock. It's up to luck then.

I believe all refurbs are listed as the stock configurations. But people do receive bonus ram or hard drive space as a luck of the draw.
