Refurb MBP or MB?

I just went to the apple store earlier and fell in love with black macbook, and i'm thinking of getting that one. However, I saw that a 1.83GHZ MBP is available for just $1,599, and since I've always preferred aluminum (and the illumating keyboard is a major plus) over plastic, I'm now seriously thinking of getting the refurb MBP instead. However, I'm concerned with all the issues surrounding the MBPs like the noise and the heat, while the MBs doesnt seem to have any of these. So I need your help! Has the problems on the MBPs been solved already? Should I get the refurb MBP instead of the black MB? Thanks
