Hmm.

I don't know what to do!

New brand new 13inch macbook pro comes to 1164$

Refurbish 13inch mbp comes to $984 total.

Only save around $180.

Is that refurbish is just came off the new line and just placed in the refurb store?

$180 more for a brand new MBP though hmmm. With more HD space, Ram too.

Can you get a better discount off a refurb with education discount?

I just want it as a first mac, for literally basic things.

Get the new one. You would anyway "have to" get 4GB RAM so it'd be ~100$ plus you get better GPU and bigger HD in the new one as well

yeah refurb cant be bought with edu discount..

definitely new one for 13.. double ram which if you buy seperate is 100 at the very least.. bigger hd is whatevers.. but the 320m graphics is huge step forward and the bigger battery..

Even for basic stuff literally, web, chat, music nothing else. You guys recommend the new 2010 model?

I said screw it. The basic is enough for me. I bought a refurb, I talked to apple on the phone, webchat. Everything should be covered if something happens. I'll buy apple care over the summer.
