So I think I've decided to get an Early 2008 Pro since I need Firewire ports, but I can't justify paying an extra $400 to get the new Pro instead of a new Macbook. SO, my question is, do you think I should go with a refurb, or try to get one from the Apple store at a reduced price? Also, how much do they typically reduce the price for old stock, and are the refurbs reliable?

Refurbs-
I have heard these a very good almost better than new ones in some cases. This is because apple gets them returned because of problems, so they check every minor detail for flaws and get much better quality control before being shipped to the consumer

I believe the clearance is 1599 for lower and 1799 for upper macbook pros, on apples website

And refurbs are 1349 for low and 1499 for high.

Great, thanks! I hadn't realized they listed the clearance prices on the site, haha. Thanks for the tip on the refurbs--it's looking like a very good option.;)
