So, the Apple Refurb Online Store now has no more 15" MBP, and only one model of 13" MBP. I'm really glad I picked up my 15" in the Spring. I was worried the refurb price would drop, but it stayed the same after the 2016's were announced, and now they are gone altogether.

Could it be they pulled the competition, or could it be the 15" 2015/2014 models became really sought after and sold out after the 2016 models debuted?

I think they're just mostly sold out, people are buying cheaper MacBook pros with ports in swarms

restocking will happen

Just keep looking. They will come and go. There have been 2013 refurbs in there in the last week.

I think this gives us the first real metric over how well the MBP 2016 has gone down...

They german store has the top of the line 2015 15'inch model for 2.000 € that's a damn good price for that beauty.

Been monitoring Apple's refurbished store and saw 2015 MBP 15" being snapped very quickly. So I just placed my order as soon as the model I want was available. It's gone now :D

I snapped up my refurb 15" the day after the new MacBooks were released, and I'm glad I did. I'm sure the new MacBooks are nice, but you can't go wrong with a 2015 15" Macbook Pro. Beautiful, crisp and clear retina screen. Tons of ports. Quad-core CPU. 16GB of RAM. Nine-hour battery. Thin and light. I'm loving this thing! Hopefully I'll get five years out of it like I did my 2010 Macbook Pro 15", which incidentally is still running like a champ!

Yep, all out for the Canadian store too, which I think is the same source anyway.

Good idea to make a spreadsheet of the various configurations and prices and watch. Give you a good idea of what is likely to become available and prices. Usually after a new release there is a modest price drop for previous models. However I've seen them raise the prices back up to previous levels if demand is high before eventually setting back down.

New models don't start appear for 3-4 months at least. Sometimes 6 months.

Though compare the prices to new ordered from somewhere you wouldn't pay sales tax. (US) You will pay sales tax in every state ordering from Apple. So depending on where you are thats from 0%- ~10% depending on locale. Can eat up much of the difference.

Sometimes you order a configuration and when it comes you find a bonus. Extra memory, faster processor, graphics, etc. Luck of draw. My last refurb came with double memory. Others were just as expected. Every one was indistinguishable from new except for the white box.

In the NZ refurb store it showed:

Featured Products
Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.2GHz quad-core Intel i7 with Retina display
Only NZ $2,759.00

But when I clicked on the link, it said: Out of stock
Some of the other 15 inch models are still available in the refurb section of the store.
