Hey all,

I'm planning on buying a refurbished uMBP 2.26Ghz from the US store while I'm on my holiday there. I will also be buying iWork over Office.
However I'm NOT buying Apple care...Until my first year is nearly up.
If I buy AppleCare in the Uk within my first year of purchase will I be covered even though it's an US laptop?

Advice is appreciated and welcomed.

Will

I have never seen any rejection based on where the unit was purchased.

Also, you might check out OpenOffice. It's free.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
Anyone have experience of refurb models?
Are they bashed about at all?

I would buy refurb any day over a new model (obviously if both fit my requirements). You get the same Apple warranty for less money.

I understand the value of a refurb. However, what I'm trying to get at is, how cosmetically damaged is it likely to be?

I purchased a Refurbished Mac Mini in January. It came to me looking brand new. The only issue i had was with the sound card going out. I took it to my local Apple store and they replaced no problem. I would buy refurbished always. I plan on buying a 15" uMBP any day now when the one i want comes avaliable. :apple:

Cosmetically it should be pristine. Apple will swap out damaged case parts before selling the unit as refurbished.

Wonderful.
It may well sound daft. But, as a poor Uni student. (I actually earn my money that pays for everything but the tuition fee) Getting my first Mac is a major thing for me. Getting it completly revamped is all the better.
Thanks all :)
