The wait time on a refurbished 17" PB from the apple store online is 30 business days. Is it just me or is that an odd amount of time for a refurbished unit.

I've gotta ask (and show my complete ignorance) - what is a refurbished unit? I thought they were 2nd hand units, but since Apple itself sells them (and the 17" is relatively new) - are refurbished units those that don't pass QA and are 'refurbished' so they do (ie a factory second)...

Referbished products are products that are returned to the company who made them because they didn't work properly and needed repair.l The company takes that product...fixes it and sells it again at a cheaper "referbished" price...

Its not the best explination but i think it explains the gist of it..:)

apple's always been weird about their refurb products. they never relly make them significantly cheaper, and they kinda make you jump thru hoops for them.

C'mon Apple. we're dyin out here. some of us need a little something to get by while this motorola fiasco is sorted out.
