I have been reading about people returning their iPhone 8+ phones because they are refurbished 7+’s. So I went to check my serial number, and this is what I find! It shows it’s refurbished possibly in the USA?? I have the 8+ in gold 256GB from AT&T. I’m not sure if I should swap it out for same color or another one...

I think the glass back vs metal back would be a dead give away.
Yep, there is no way to confuse them, but I suppose it is possible that there may be a slight change to the serial number format that is confusing websites that haven't been updated properly so they come out with a result of it being a 7+.

You can phone Apple to confirm.

Model numbers that start with "F" have traditionally been refurbished units. But it's possible Apple has changed the scheme.

It’s not the serial u look at. Look at the model number. If it starts with M it’s new if it starts with N it’s a service unit (refurb), I’m sure it’s fine, the phone is just so new those websites don’t always decipher it correctly right away.

Thanks for that tip! I just checked my model number and indeed starts with an M! I agree with you and others that the phone is just too new right now. Plus like someone else mentioned, the glass back is a dead giveaway.
