Just picked one up as my 2006 17 inch Intel is slowly dying (hard drive and DVD drive). i decided to go with this refurb model for 1099 rather than a new one for 1499. Did I make the right choice? I'm a teacher and use it for internet, office and Iwork, Apperture, and Ilife... I use it as my media station as well. I have a ton of Apple Lossless files and movie on my external that I lend to my apple tv

A very good choice in my humble opinion :)

Honestly I would have saved the extra $100 and get a base i3, as it's much more powerful, but that doesn't make your decision bad. If it suits your needs, then it was a good choice.
