Hi All,

I am planning to buy refurbished macbook pro from Apple for my Friend. Its Quad core processor with 4 GB Ram, 15 inch. Any one has experience with refurbished stuff from Apple?

There are two options and I am really confused on that if you guys can suggest me:

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.9GHz Dual-core Intel i7
Eligible for OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program

Originally released June 2012
13.3-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1280-by-800 resolution
8GB (2 x 4GB) of 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM
750GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 4000

Or

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Quad-core Intel i7
Eligible for OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program

Originally released October 2011
15.4-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen display, 1440-by-900 resolution
4GB (2 x 2GB) of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
500GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 and AMD Radeon HD 6750M

Not much difference in price.

There is another one which is used by someone and I am getting it really cheap

13.3 inch 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
8 GB DDR3 MEM - (Upgraded from stock)*******
120GB SOLID STATE DRIVE

Please suggest best one.

He is asking for 750$

Thanks for the reply. He is asking for 750$. He was using it for programming websites. I also want to buy for programming.

i think thats a bit too much for the $750. I have seen several brand new 13" for $800 on craigslist. with that one being a core 2 duo, its atleast 2-3 years old at best

You aren't going to have much luck in the refurb store with $750 unfortuantely.

if youre doing programming I would try my best to get a 15". that screen real estate is very valuable when coding. the extra power doesnt hurt either. It just depends on how much you can afford. either machine will be more that adequate

He is willing to pay more 750$ is price for third one.:)

Oh I see, my mistake I misinterpreted.

$750 seems like a decent price for that if it's in good condition and has all of the original peripherals and the like.

Thanks everybody for quick help I have decided to go for 15 inch. I am planning to buy 16 GB RAM for that. I hope by using 16 GB I will still carry warantty from Apple. This is the first time we both will use Mac and hope to have a great experience.:)

You won't void your warranty if you upgrade the RAM, but it's a good idea to keep the original RAM for potential issues. Apple MAY try to blame the 3rd party memory if issues do come up, so you'll want to be able to swap the originals back in.

all you have to do is pop in your original memory before taking to apple if there is an issue and youre golden. same thing goes for an ssd if you do that upgrade down the road as well. saves you any hassle of them blaming the 3rd party part

:D so you are asking for less that 750 or more than this :) can you tell me complete configuration?
