So i was thinking of buy a refurbished mac pro (xeon) in the future

however i need wifi access. i wont be doing any file transfers
but i cant seem to find the airport extreme card on the apple store site.
do i have to walk in a apple store to get it for my refurbished mac pro?

You have to get them to install it in the Apple Store or buy from a third party vendor and do it yourself (which is a bit more fiddly than most upgrades). I don't think they charge any extra for the install, it's just a nuisance :)

However I just bought one myself and it randomly came with airport extreme already onboard as a bonus, so if you do decide to get it I recommend waiting until you receive the machine and checking. When the refurbs originally had upgrades for their first owner they don't always bother taking them out before reselling them to people like us.

ah i see. ok so i'll just order and wait till the mac pro ships then.

so basically i gotta lug this huge heavy machine to get wifi into an apple store :eek:ahh its probably worth it anyways
