I'm wondering if it is worth it to purchase a refub from Apple. I can add a lot of upgrades for the amount of money saved with a refurb. Does anyone have experience with them?

My wife picked a refurb 2018 15” MacBook Pro and haven’t had any issues with. Looks like new!

My 2015 13" is a refurb. I didn't hesitate then and wouldn't hesitate now.

I've largely seen positive feedback for the refurbs, and while its possible to get one that's not up to par, the majority are fine

I’ve always been happy with refurbished Macs. My 12” MacBook and my 13” MacBook Pro are refurbished. You get a new battery and a full warranty.

I purchased a refurbished 2017 MBP toward the end of last year. I still can’t believe it is a refurbished MBP, there are no scratches/blemishes on the case, the screen is perfect and the battery had 3 cycles on it. The only way I could tell it was a refurb was that the box didn’t have a picture of the device on it - just a white box with the device name on it. I feel that refurbished devices are well worth the savings.

If there were a market for refurb Mac here in Denmark I would have got one. You are as likely to get one with a fault as if you buy new. And have newer heard about anyone being shipped with a major dent/blemish.

The only reason I don't buy refrubs is because in my country they never have the options I want. As far as I can see there is no downside to refurbs

I've bought TONS of refurbs directly from Apple, and have been beyond happy with them. They still carry a warranty, and they always look brand new.

I got my last Macbook Pro (late 2013) from Apple Refurb. It was basically mint condition for a couple hundred dollars off and they even had the configuration i intended to get, so i got what i was already going to buy for less. It was basically too good to be true but actually was true. I'll almost certainly buy my next MBP (probably the 2020 one if they don't do one this fall, which it's starting to look like is the case), through the refurb store once the new MBPs hit refurb.

I want a 1.4ghz so the $200 off isn’t enough. I can find that savings a few times a year brand new. No telling if the unit was left on all the time by the previous owner. Could a refurb be a floor model that some place had previously?

I have received a few dented refurbs that I returned. I would not have a problem with refurbished Apple products if I were sure they would show up like new.

In my experience, the savings are not worth it. I get a business discount anyway; might as well buy new.
