Hey guys!
i was thinking of buying and old refurbished macbook from 08 or 09 from macofalltrades
i saw that their prices were incredibly cheap.
Ive never owned a mac computer before, i really just want it so i can learn mac os.

my question is, is it worth it? and is macofalltrades a safe site to purchase from?

I don't know anything about that company. It seems to have been around for a while. Personally I wouldn't order a used computer without seeing a lot of pictures of the exact one I'm getting including screen shots of the serial number. Maybe they'll do that for you.

Those computers, assuming nothing is wrong, will run great if you swap the HD for an SSD and upgrade the RAM. Add that to your cost. They crawl along with a 5400RPM hard drive. The upgrades are pretty easy to "do yourself".

I've dealt with Mac of all Trades a couple times, and I have always gotten a wonderful product at a decent price from them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them :)
