Hello,

In the market for a laptop and have always used Windows. Though I switched to iPhone recently and now may want a MacBook to replace my old laptop. I really mostly use is for browsing, typing documents, shopping, storing things, etc. So I don't feel like spending $1,000 on a new one.

Are One World Computing and Mac of All Trades good places to find a refurbished one? Anyone have any experience? Other better suggestions?

Apple has its own refurbished store: https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/mac

Perfectly good option. They feel equivalent to brand new.

You can buy a new M1 MBA for like $850 which is probably cheaper than a refurbished. Not sure what your price range is but…

Apple's refurbished also come with a year warranty and the ability to add Apple Care+, for up to three years, with accident and damage protection. You have Apple's backing and that’s good to have!

Lots of people have had great luck, with refurbished Macs that look brand new. Apple does state this:

”You will receive a refurbished device with genuine Apple replacement parts (as needed) that has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected.”
OTOH, they don't automatically replace the battery and the case as they do with iOS devices.
”Refurbished iOS devices will come with new battery and outer shell.”
