Anyone have any recent experience buying a refurb MacBook Pro from Apple? I noticed the 2020s are available and was hoping maybe these had the heat problem fixed, after having had closer scrutiny.

i bought a 2010 refurb and it was awesome, lasted 6 years. Would love to get some recent input.

I'm typing on a 2019 16" bought from the refurb store and it's been working flawlessly and looks just like it was a new machine.

I bought one years ago. It quite literally is like buying a brand new one but it comes in a white box.

The only part of a MacBook that is refurbished are the internals. You can expect everything else to be brand new.

Refurbed are great values. But if you mean the 2020 13" MBP be sure to check Best Buy and other retailers for sales.

Actually, I've always found that the refurbs were BETTER than new. They're gone over with a fine-toothed comb in Austin by American Apple employees as opposed to just rolling of the Chinese factory line.

That may just be placebo effect. They clean them and put in a fresh part like replacing the rubber feet on the bottom case and clean out dust from the inside if they need to for the "like new" refurb. But they aren't going in and re-engineering them from scratch or fixing engrained hardware design problems or anything like that. They simply restore them to be like they were when they rolled off those Chinese factory lines. Whatever heat problem you're talking about will probably still be there on a refurb in the OP will likely still be there. Macbook Pros get hot.

That said, i definitely recommend buying from Apple's refurb store. You save a couple hundred dollars and get a machine that's nearly identical to how it would be brand new.
