Refurbished Model Quality Concerns

I am seriously thing to buy a refurbished 15' MBP from apple store. I previously had an ibook and eMac in the past years, but bought them brandnew.

Long story short, I am very curious the quality of refurbished model from Apple store. Does look like very new? Can I buy Apple care to extent to 3-year warranty? Thanks for any comments!
