Refurbished MPB quality

I was wondering, as a whole, how is the quality of a refurbished MPB. I don't care all that much for the LED screen or the slightly faster SR chip, so assuming I wanted a refurbished computer, will there be a significant difference between a new MPB and a refurbished one performance wise? And is there any chance that they'll give me one that has visible scratches (fine ones are okay, but I'm talking about ones that just ruin the visual of the MPB).
