What exactly do they do to the refurbished phones they sell before they sell them? Is it worth buying a refurbished phone or are you buying someone else's problems.

Thanks

If you get a refurbished phone expect to make multiple trips to the Apple Store until you get a phone for which you have not *yet* detected a problem.

It's a nightmare.

I bought a refurbished 3G phone from AT&T recently. After two days, it wouldn't accept or make phone calls. I took it to my Apple store, they checked it out, said it was defective, and gave me another phone.

I have bought three refurbs in the past prior to this phone and never had any problems with them.

Did you buy from an ATT store or online?

Apple Refurb looks like new, has warranty like new.

If you get "refurb" from elsewhere it might not be the same experience.

AT&T does not refurb their phones the same way Apple does.

Apple puts a brand new battery and exterior case on each refurb iPhone. It doesn't sell refurb iPhones, they're used for warranty replacements.

There are threads on here where people purchasing refurb'ed iPhones from AT&T have had them arrive w/ the previous owners data on them.
