I have a space gray 6 plus and want a gold one. I'm thinking if I buy one of their refurbished phones and sell mine on swappa/eBay I should almost break even. Anybody have any thoughts on the quality of these phones?

Walmart's warranty is 90 days, and I'm upgrading in 6 months (assuming Apple releases as usual).

More than likely these are just customer returns and besides the Walmart warranty, they would also still have the remainder of the Apple warranty.

I bought a refurbished iPad Mini a few years ago from walmart online. It was manufacturer refurbished (i assume by apple) and was as good as new. Definitely not just some repackaged return.

Make no mistakes, these ARE returned iphones that are cleaned up and repackaged by a 3rd party company--NOT refurbished by Apple. Walmart claims they only come with a 90 day warranty, but the original apple warranty is still good and based on the ORIGINAL purchase date.

I purchased 2 of these back in January. one had an october original purchase date, one had a december original purchase date. Both phones looked brand new, and came in the original box, but was shrink wrapped by the 3rd party.

Of course, I was able to add the applecare + to the december purchase date iphone, as it was still within 60 days of purchase.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went ahead and ordered a gold 6plus last week and it arrived today.

It shipped super fast...less than two days. It was in fact a third party refurb in the original box but shrink wrapped.

It wasn't very clean. It had smudges on the back and some gunk around the rear facing camera. It also had a small but noticeable gouge by the volume rocker, a small less noticeable scuff by the speaker and an inch long scratch in the middle of the screen.

For $150 off retailer it's still a good deal, but that's more cosmetic flaws than I would like so I'm going to return the gold refurb and keep my space gray for now.

Yeah, in that condition, you might be better off just buying another one off swappa
