According to what I've read (and maybe I've got it wrong), but my iMac should be able to play a Region free PAL DVD. It just spins it for awhile and then ejects it from the SuperDrive.

Plays fine on my nasty ol' media unfriendly Dell PC with no problems.

Am I missing something or just SOL? Thanks.

Go to SysPrefs > CDs & DVDs > When you insert a video DVD > click Open Other Application > and then choose VLC which you may have in your Applications folder. If not, it's a free application and doesn't bother with region codes.

I should add that the above solution prevents Apple's own DVD Player app trying to open which is probably the cause of the dvd being spat out. The other thing is you may have exhausted your allowed number of times changing a region code.

It should work, but if it is a burned disc, you may be having a lens issue.

Ok, thanks. It's retail disc, but I ripped and burned it to a DVD+R using my PC and it now works on the iMac.
