Hi all.

Have a white Macbook (2Ghz, with 2GB RAM)

I bought it in May, and it is heavily used in night time music venue environments (often very very sweaty). I also have fairly sweaty palms :)

Consequently, there is really bad staining on the palm rests. It's gonna be totally messed up in 6 months time I think. My local apple store said they'd replace the palm rest casing for free up until my warrantly runs out.

But, I really would like to swop it for a black Macbook with the equiv config now.

If I could find someone up for it, could i just swop the hard drives, and that'd be it????

I think you will need to add CASH.... not sure why anybody with a black macbook will do a even trade. If they do , something is wrong with the mb or its a scam.

If you have the $1099 white + $500 or so will be fair.... if you have the $1,299 white + $300...

Unless you want a year old Black then i think people might do that... maybe just sell it and just buy the black one.

If you find someone who wants to swap, maybe don't mention the fact that you have sweated all over your computer ;)

How about if you just use a silicone skin like those by Mactop. They seem to work well... although u shud remove it when closing the screen.

Wouldn't a black macbook show stains more so (ie fingerprints, scratches, and maybe sweat stains) than the white one? Seems like it would be better to get the pad replaced, and get a protector for it.

If its functioning fine you could ask the Apple store if you could upgrade/replace the white casing for black casing. Dunno if they would allow this but you could explain your situation. Its worth a try:)

now that is a little better. wouldn't mind something a little more durable on the palm part though

now that sounds like a good idea. but i doubt they would do it

Hmm...well my friend, who uses his macbook in the same environment etc etc has a black one and it doesn't look half as bad as mine.

Maybe a skin / protector is the way forward?

Another friend has a Macbook pro. He's got this plastic casing which is pretty cool. But I don't think it protects the palmrest.

That looks OK. But wrong keyboard shape for me...?
