I experience a regular strange freeze with Safari since my Snow Leopard upgrade.

I have several Safari windows open/ minimized with several tabs each. When I hit "command + T" to open a new tab, Safari freezes for several seconds to sometimes longer amounts of time, marking the "File" tab in the menu bar grey, as if just clicked.
The computer seems to slow down extremely during this freeze.

The dock (which I set to autohide) can not be brought up during the freeze.

The mouse cursor changes to a text input cursor, that persists even in hovering over other apps or the desktop.

If I try several things during the freeze (switching apps, …) the computer totally slows down to a standstill.
I cannot do anything other than wait out the freeze, doing nothing.

Does anybody experience a similar issue?
