Shift+Option+Command+R: Installs the operating system that came with your Mac (or the version closest to it that's still available).

I am getting a message "Can't download additional components needed to install Mac OS X ??

I have seen a similar post where the issue was repaired via a NVRAM purge; ie., hold down the Option-Command-P and R keys on reboot, wait for 3 chimes, and try the internet recovery process again. Shift+Option+Command+R
The best way is to make a USB install disk (requires a 16 GB USB).

I have found the solution.

Furka said to use......Shift+Option+Command+R: Installs the operating system that came with your Mac (or the version closest to it that's still available).
This i did but still got stuck at the bit where it says it cannot download additional components to carry on with the install download. I looked into it and it seems i was not connected to the internet, but i was the wifi signal at the top of the page showed i was connected.

I though i would try the start up procedure as i do on my 13in macbook Command-Alt-r. and this worked perfectly, i installed from the image on the hidden partition and an using it now.

The strange thing is that win the 5in macbook started there was a revolving globe and the the utility started and i could carry on, i had never seen this on the 13in macbook.
When i came to wipe the 13in for sale it to had the revolving globe, i thinks the startup procedure has been updated.

What ever, my new mack work perfectly, thanks to all as any help is much appreciated when you run into a brick wall.
