Reinstall Win7?

I am having a problem with P7 allowing/recognizing the DVD drive when in Win7. Haven't been able to figure out the problem.
Would I be better off reinstalling P7/Win7 all over? Not a lot of data will be lost and hopefully that will allow more options in Win7
