Reinstalling Mountain Lion

Hey Guys,
So currently I have Mavericks preview 8 on my MacBook Air 2013 and I want to know when the public release is available, do I need to format my hard drive and install Mountain Lion (the OS that came with it) then upgrade to Mavericks or can I just upgrade from preview to the official release? because I think iOS7 preview/beta users had to downgrade to iOS6 then to upgrade to iOS7?

If you update to the GM when it is ready, I think you will be able to update to the other mavericks updates like "10.9.1"
