How do I go about it?

My friend has got a MacBook, an old white plastic one, 2.4GHz and 2GB of RAM, running OS X 10.6.5. He want to wipe it and reinstall the OS.

I tried guiding him through the internet recovery mode (CMD + Option + R) whilst turning on but it did not start internet recovery mode. He also only had the Application install disc not the OS disc it came with.

How can he wipe it and reinstall the OS?

Thanks

The OS X Recovery Partition and Internet Recovery were introduced with Lion. They do not exist on Snow Leopard. You either need to order a replacement install disc from Apple, or buy a retail SL disc.
