I had quite a few applications running on my imac, and I was also downloading some TV comedy, when suddenly everything stopped. And the worst thing, it didn't start again.

In the end I had to switch the power off and start up again. If this happens again (although hopefully it won't be a regular thing), are there any keys I can press, or other options to try before choosing to cut the power?

Options

#1-Get more RAM
#2-option-command-esape for the force quit menu
#3-option-command-eject key to put it to sleep (maybe it will wake back up and work)
Action

Shortcut

Stop a process

? + period

Force an application to quit

? + Option + Escape

Turn off your computer

Power key

Force some computers to shut down or restart

? + Option + Shift + Power key

Force the computer to restart

? + Control + Power key

Thanks!

Plenty of options for me to go at there. Although getting more RAM I guess would be my best bet.
