Years ago, I used to play Battlefield Vietnam on a PC desktop. You could jump out of airplanes, then parachute to the ground, shooting people on the way down with your machine gun.

The physics of that was so surreal and relaxing I’d think about doing that in-game while trying to fall asleep at night, and it’d actually help.

So the other day I asked one of these AI chatbots for iPhone and or iOS games like that and it gave me a bunch of wingsuit simulators. A wingsuit is apparently a suit you wear with wings that helps you glide.

These games were the biggest waste of time I could imagine, Crudge graphics, Bunch of ads after every jump. And each jump really did not take that long.

Where can I go to get good game recommendations? Or just good app recommendations in general? This forumdoesn’t seem very high traffic.

I do have a trial subscription to Apple Arcade right now. So I’m open to Apple Arcade games if anyone can recommend anything half decent.

I thinking I may have to go to my PC desktop to play any decent games even though I don’t want to.

But I’m just somebidy trying to find a few games I want to play. Anybody can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it.

War games? Maybe you’d like Nobleman: 1896. You can also try browsing App Raven (website or app) and look up games recommendations.

I'm kind of in the same boat - looking for chill iOS games that aren't just endless ad traps. If you’re on Apple Arcade, I'd recommend Alto’s Odyssey - the zen mode is super relaxing, no score or goals, just you and the scenery. Also Assemble With Care - it's story-driven and oddly soothing. If you find more like these, drop them here, I’m always hunting too.

Reddit has several solid communities, such as r/iosgaming, r/AppleArcade, and r/gaming in general. People there post fresh recommendations and honest reviews daily, often with gameplay clips so you can preview them before downloading. Try searching there. If you're looking for verified mobile game selections (not just ad-laden junk), check out the iOS section on TouchArcade and Metacritic—they feature high-quality games with user reviews.

But I’m just somebidy trying to find a few games I want to play. Anybody can point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it. Lately, I've also been searching for something incredibly relaxing on my iPad—after work, my brain just switches off, and I crave games without the extra stress. For example, I often find myself playing Alto's Odyssey or Townscaper—perfect for when I just need to "escape" for a few minutes. By the way, in a similar vein, I sometimes read various reviews to find calm, relaxing games or services. I recently came across a resource with online casino reviews—not of the gaming apps, but rather analytics on how they work. There was a full review of King Billy there, and it came in handy when I was looking for something light and entertaining, but without hardcore gaming. So, if you also like to read or play something unobtrusive and relaxing before bed, this might be useful.
Also, I think, if you want deeper, more PC-like experiences, your desktop will still beat iOS every time.
