Apple announced that the new iPadOS 16.1 will launch in October, but considering we still haven't heard anything about the 2022 iPads, there's a good chance the release will be postponed until November.

Best thing to say is that its ready when its ready I suppose.

We wont get any notice or fanfare on the subject....

If people want some kind of advanced warning keep an eye out on the public and developer beta progress... and once they get the RC (release candidate) release then you know we are about a week away from rollout.

My best guess is that if they have already quoted an October release... then they may well do as they have done in the past and leave it right to the last minute in October... so Monday 31st could well be the day.

I think release date contingent on it seamlessly getting FILES app playing nice with iOS Files and MacOS Finder which is complicated - of course that among other things. Renaming, deleting, moving, seeing files sizes/dates on an external HD (via USB C Hub) on my iPad is a dream coming true shortly and smoothly? Verging on no real need for laptop - with a hub I can run a small travel USB Mouse, HD Drives, SD/MicroSD Cards, Ethernet, HDMI, even a USB DVD RW Drive. So pick and choose for a trip.

Not necessarily, as Apple can announce new iPads pretty much any time in October via press release, without a dedicated event. The current iOS/iPad OS 16.1 beta is doing quite well, so should be ready soon.

I got it sorted, I had to delete the beta profile from iOS 15 first to get it to show up 👍🏻

Got the update yesterday around 12 noon chicago time. Installed it last night and now playing with it and exploring it at my office, perfect time to get familiar with a new operating system is on company time, that way I get paid for what I want to do and let the others actually finish projects.
