I think this year, the lines at stores are going to be the longest ever for an iPhone release. Consider the following factors:
-Those who skipped the iPhone 3GS update hoping for something better this time around will opt for this
-Anyone who skipped the 3GS update will have their contracts expire either this month or next
-(2010) AT&T increased device update eligibility by 6 months. This is considerably better than the iPhone 3GS release (2009) where AT&T upgrade eligibility was extended to those who had been on contract for at least 12-18 months and had an average bill of $99
-10x more Apple fanboys
-Original iPhone price point (2007) was $599-8G and $499-4G, iPhone 3G (2008) was $299-16G and $199-8G, and iPhone 3GS (2009) was $299-32G and $199-16G. This does not include the price drop for previous models per year. So historically, the prices have been on a decrease. Although the price point remains the same for the previous year, this year out of all years you get the most "bang for your buck."
