Is this Kuo guy credible? Has he been spot on in the past? I really would like to take his report as firm evidence that we'll see the refreshed iMac soon, but even he revised his estimates, which tells me he could also miss the mark. I really do hope he's right though. What are his sources and how does he even have info on the supply chain?

Yes. He was spot on in regard to the 15" Retina Macbook Pro. He also predicted the death of the 17" Macbook Pro, and before that, the death of the white Macbook.
He's one of the few sources that you would dare to trust.

The diagram shows 21 inches end aug. ie now.

So where is it then if he is correct?

So it's safe to take his word as gospel? I can't bear this wait any longer man! I really am on the fence as to whether I should just get a rMBP. Was playing with one the other day at the Apple store (also happened to get a reps contact info ;)) and it's a phenomenal machine! But I'm still drawn to the iMacs. The only downside about the rMBP is the 15" screen and that is why I'm still waiting because I would like to get the 21.5" iMac. According to Kuo, they should be arriving any day now :(

Unless you really need it right now, I'd suggest you wait a little longer. It can literally be any Tuesday now (well, unless Kuo is s**ting us) so if you can wait, do wait. I know I will— and I've been waiting since, well, January...

I feel your pain. I am waiting for the IMac as well...

Is it just me who feels that it sounds very un-Apple-ish to release a refreshed product family in two batches? Or has this happened before?

Either they will delay the 21 inch before anything is announced and launch both together or launch the 21 inch with a shipping delay on the 27 inch model.

Kuo has been very accurate in the past with the iPad 3, iPhone 4, rMBP, and looking to be right with the iPad mini as well: http://www.padgadget.com/2011/02/19/ipad-3-to-get-2048x1536-display-a-bigger-ipod-touch/

I find it strange too! Annoying even since I'm waiting for a 27" iMac and my parents for a 21" or a refreshed mini.
We'll soon find out though.

Been waiting since February here.

Personally I have rather pessimistic thoughts about buying a product that is first in its generation. But really, they should know how to make those iMacs perfect by now.

Yeah same fear here, though at this point I personally don't have much of an option. It's either that, or a 2011 refurb... but I would have gotten that already by now. Fingers crossed...
