Thinking I was freeing up some memory on my Macbook Pro I moved original photos from the iPhoto folder onto my external hard drive and deleted the originals on my mac. Is there any way to relink the files to avoid the big grey exclamation mark coming up on double clicking the thumbnail? I have searched on various forums but have found no solution. I have thousands of photos so really want to avoid importing them all again. I am using iPhoto '09 v 8.0.4

I have Snow Leopard to install but currently do not have enough room on my mac, I need to back up some more photos but need to make sure I retain the link.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You have to move the actual iPhoto Library file onto the external drive to rid the process of importing. The file is located in your Pictures folder.
