Relocate Antenna in early 08 Mac Pro

Has anyone relocated the antenna from the base of the 8-core Mac Pro to the top? I have noticed fairly poor radio performance with the Mac Pro on the floor, but when elevated 2-3 feet, performance increased about 15-20%.

I took a quick look inside the system, and it was not entirely strait forward, and wanted to check before tearing into my system.
