I have been listening to audio books on various ipods for several years. These are in the mp3 format, not AAC. I have always used the 'Remember Playback Position' option in Itunes, and this has always worked.

On the iPhone however, this works only about half the time. After listening to the audio book for awhile, then switching and playing another song, then returning to the audio book, it will sometimes start from the beginning. This also happens occasionally when I sync the iphone with my mac, or charge it fully.

Anyone else experiencing this very frustrating issue?

I have the same problem, but on my iPod touch... It's really annoying!!
Thanks for letting me know i'm not loosing it. :)

I have also had the same problem. I am still on firmware 1.0.2 since I have not updated. I didn't know if this was the problem or not.

Yep

Same here, even on podcasts I download from iTunes.

But it's hit and miss.

same problem here. what i've been doing is typing in the position i'm at within Notes after each listen. that way, if it messes up, i'll at least know where i was.

It works for me with iTunes 7.6 and a 16Gb Touch 1.1.3. But, the settings are not retained if I remove the tracks and then add them again.

This also happens for the "Skip when shuffling option"

I'm having the same problem. For me it seems to happen consistently after syncing. Very annoying.

Has anybody sent a bug report to Apple?

Same problem here. ^ As bill posted, this is also the best solution I have.

The weird thing is, I didn't have this problem with my 2nd gen iPod touch. However, as soon as I got my iPhone 3GS a couple weeks ago, it has had the podcast sync problem. Very annoying.
